ADAMSON WELCOMES UNPRECENDENTED SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT INVESTMENT IN CULTURE SECTOR

SNP MSP Clare Adamson has hailed Reeltime Music after it was announced that the Motherwell charity was chosen for a significant multi-year development fund.
Based in Newarthill Community Centre, Reeltime Music supports disadvantaged young people across North Lanarkshire.
The charity provides a platform to develop confidence and build skills and relationships through music through the provision of affordable recording and rehearsal services; workshops and training; volunteering; and partnership projects.
The landmark announcement by Creative Scotland will see a record number of cultural organisations receive stable, multi-year funding—thanks to a significant budget commitment from the SNP Government.
With over £200 million being provided to 251 organisations over the next three years, this represents the largest ever funding commitment for Scotland’s cultural sector.
Reeltime is one of 13 organisations that will benefit from a £3.2 million Development Fund, allowing them to transition into the Multi-Year Funding portfolio in 2026/27.
Existing regularly funded organisations will also receive an average funding uplift of 34% in 2025/26, increasing to 54% in 2026/27—delivering the security needed for them to thrive and continue making an impact.
Ms Adamson, MSP for Motherwell and Wishaw, has been a long-time supporter of Reeltime Music.
She said:
“Reeltime has transformed the lives of young people in my community.
“The charity helps to break down barriers and build aspirations for young people through music.
“We know there are tremendous educational benefits to music; it plays a key role in brain development and helps to develop language and motor skills as well as being a fantastic social activity.
“That is why supporting as many people as possible to access and participate in music is so important.
“This is a momentous moment for Scotland’s cultural sector. Thanks to the Scottish Government’s historic investment, more organisations than ever before will receive long-term, stable funding—ensuring that culture remains at the heart of our national identity.
“And this huge boost to Reeltime will put an incredible charity on a sustainable footing, allowing them to make a difference to young people in Motherwell and Wishaw.
“We have to value our culture sector, and this investment strengthens our commitment to supporting the artists, performers, and organisations that enrich our lives and communities.”
